A Sustainable Clothing Brand that Gilt Edged Uses – Fruit of the Loom. Garments made The Fruit Way.

Fruit of the Loom – an established well-known clothing manufacturer that is used by Gilt Edged believes that a more sustainable Fruitful Future is for everyone. Doing the right thing ethically and environmentally has been The Fruit Way for a long time now, so Fruit of the Loom is pleased to share their sustainability campaign that highlights the positive action it has taken over the last years, plus the commitment to ambitious new sustainability targets for 2025 and 2030.

More than ever before, people are questioning where their garments come from, how they are made, and who is making them. The great news is that Fruit of the Loom has been making its own garments The Fruit Way for years.

Following their long tradition of ethical manufacturing, in 2008 the brand moved into their own full-scale purpose-built European production facility in Morocco. Having vertically-integrated full control over production means that Fruit of the Loom can control the quality, colour, and consistency of the Ts, Sweats and Polos that its customers count on. Even more importantly, it means Fruit of the Loom can make its collections fairly and with respect for the people it works with, along with a committed focus on sustainability and environmentally-sound production.

Together, the team manufactures millions of garments every week; and is proud to be able to say that just over 90% of the garments are made entirely by themselves.

All of this means that you can choose the great-quality Fruit of the Loom garments you rely on with complete confidence and reassurance that they have been made the right way – The Fruit Way. It’s also extremely likely that those garments have been 100% made by Fruit of the Loom, from start to finish, by its motivated Moroccan team too.

Gilt Edged are proud to support the ethical manufacturing that has always been important to Fruit of the Loom. Like its outstanding Iconic T-Shirts and Valueweight Ts to the Premium Polos and Classic Sweats the majority of Fruit of the Loom’s garments are made entirely by the iconic brand at its purpose-built factory in Morocco where the focus lies on the highest ethical and environmental standards.

For other garments sourced globally, the brand works with many suppliers from across the globe. But it is vital for the company that all of these are independently verified according to its strict ethical code of conduct. Fruit of the Loom only works with businesses who meet its high sustainability and environmental standards, and those who are committed to employee safety and fair remuneration – with zero tolerance for child or forced labour. This is all backed up through certifications with credible independent assessment organisations such as WRAP and OEKO-TEX®. Fruit of the Loom is also a member of both amfori and Better Cotton.

Another part of The Fruit Way towards a more sustainable future that Gilt Edged are proud of is about using renewable electricity wherever possible. So, Fruit of the Loom is pleased to report that 75% of its current electricity used to produce products for Europe in its Moroccan facilities is renewable – this means using the natural power of the wind!
