Sustainable promotional products are becoming more and more popular as businesses look to reduce their carbon footprint and lessen their impact on the environment. We know that many companies have environmental targets to meet and want to do their part working towards a healthier planet. Using eco friendly promotional products shows that you're taking corporate social responsibility seriously.
Consumers are also becoming more environmentally conscious, with many looking to reduce their impact on the planet through their buying habits. As far as stats go, research shows that 55% of customers would be willing to pay extra for eco-friendly branded merchandise. 78% of customers in a survey of 10,281 also agreed that environmental practices are important and that sustainability appeals to them.
Before marking a product as 'eco-friendly,' we consider factors like the materials it's made from, lifetime use, and whether it might reduce the reliance on single-use alternatives. From branded products made from recycled materials to those that are biodegradable and compostable, we can provide alternative options to traditional branded merchandise items to help you be kinder to the planet. This includes promotional merchandise made from recycled material, wheat fibre and bamboo.
Recycled and organic clothing garments are also increasingly in demand. We are pleased to include Regatta's Honestly Made range, featuring garments made from recycled plastic bottles, along with others in our collection.
A lot of different terminology is used for products that are marketed as sustainable, so we've written a guide to help:
Recyclable: these products are made from materials that can be recycled after the product is used. Paper and cardboard are the most commonly recycled materials across the globe.
Recycled: these products are made from recycled materials, including paper, cardboard, plastic and more. Often only a percentage of a product uses recycled materials, so make sure to check the small print.
Organic: these materials are grown without the use of harmful chemicals or pesticides. Organic cotton is a prime example of this.
Sustainable: these materials can be grown and manufactured without harm to the envrionment. Examples include bamboo, wool, and managed forests.
Biodegradable: these items decompose naturally, although different materials break down at different rates. These items are often sent to landfill, where they can’t biodegrade as theconditions aren't right. It's often best to take these to recycling centres.
Compostable: items made from plant materials that break down into compost. While paper and cardboard can be added to the home compost, materials such as bioplastics require industrial composting and need to be added to food waste collection.
Plant-Based Promotions
More products are being made from eco-friendly, plant-based materials. From diaries made from recycled FSC paper to pens made from wheat plastic, the possibilities are almost endless. As well as being renewable, most of this sustainable merchandise is biodegradable. It can easily be broken down by natural processes, even if it ends up in landfill. Not only will you be doing your part to protect the environment, but you'll also be giving your customers a reminder of your green values.
Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides or chemicals, making it a more environmentally friendly option than conventional cotton. As a bonus, it’s also comfortable to wear. Organic cotton t-shirts and sweatshirts are great choices for eco friendly merchandise or workwear. We stock a range from Kariban and SOL’s, which will appeal to the growing number of eco-conscious consumers around the globe.
Recycling is a great way to reduce waste and conserve resources. Our range of recycled eco friendly merchandise includes coffee cups, pens, and umbrellas, as well as clothing from Regatta’s Honestly Made collection. These products give your customers a tangible reminder of your company's commitment to sustainability whenever they’re used. Recycled items are not only eco-friendly but also unique, as each item has its own story to tell. Recycling plastic stops it from ending up in landfill or the oceans, where it poses a threat to the environment and its inhabitants.
